As a teacher, Lara is irreverent and generous with knowledge.
She is dedicated to treating every student with the respect and gravity a fellow artist deserves. Because of this she had an exceptional ability to tease out the strengths of emerging performers and hold a vision of the best work they can create. Using humor and play, she invokes an intoxicating atmosphere of lavish creative exploration that culminates in practical, effective tools to build original material.
Much of Lara’s own work has involved designing and building costumes, masks, props, and puppets. Her act and show creation workshops invite students “get their hands dirty” exploring fun, simple ways to incorporate craft and theater into their own pieces.

"Lara was instrumental in helping me imagine and execute my first aerial act. Her creative process, which was very honest and passionate, really resonated with me. I have since adopted many of the things she taught me and incorporated them into my own fledgling creative process. She managed to both push me to take risks, while also being very supportive the whole way through - not an easy balancing act. I would work with her again in a heartbeat."
